"A" is for airport, not awesome...

Hi guys!

We were scheduled to depart LAX at 10:05pm PST on 3/11.  This would put us in Papeete Tahiti at approximately 4:45am TAHT (GMT -10) on 3/12.  The flight is just under 9 hours, and we were scheduled to arrive with a little over two hours to catch our connecting flight to Bora Bora.  HOWEVER, our flight out of LA was delayed almost 2 hours, essentially guaranteeing that we would not make the connection.  Not only was the flight long, but the cramped seating resulted in a restless night. At one point I woke up during the Chronicles of Narnia (don't get me started on that) and couldn't feel my feet or my "seat".  Not fun, to say the least.

We finally arrived in Papeete at around 7am, but missed our connecting flight due to a mix up with our airport guide.  We met a couple of other groups, a honeymooning couple from Atlanta and a family of three from Chicago, who had also missed their early flight.  The Dad in the group of three made sure we all got on a new flight with no problem.

We finally got on the connecting flight around 8:45.

After everything, the view makes it all worthwhile...

Here are a couple of pictures from the Bora Bora airport.

  1. Yay, Dads!!!! Glad you made it. The pictures are great. The long flight is the only thing that keeps me from flying to Hawaii every summer.
